1- Plan Your Hotbar Layout
Sketch on paper or visualize the number of hotbar slots your game needs. For this tutorial, I’ll create one weapon slot, one item slot, and three skill slots.2 - Set Up Slots in the Hotbar Plugin
Open the Hotbar plugin > Hotbar Setups > Create a new hotbar.
Weapon Slot: Set to one slot at row 1, column 1. Other settings are optional. In Slot Setups, create a slot named "Weapon Slot" and map a button to it (e.g., I’ll use Q). Set Special Behavior to "Weapon" to restrict this slot to weapons only. Without Special Behavior, players can assign any item to this slot.
Skill Slots: Create three skill slots with the Special Behavior set to "Skill" to restrict them to skills only. Set the layout to 1 row and 3 columns. Map each slot to a button: Slot 1 to "1", Slot 2 to "2", and Slot 3 to "3".
3 - Drag and Drop
Playtest the game, press the "Page Down" button (mapped to W by default). Then, drag and drop your slots to arrange them. Your slots are now functional, allowing you to equip items or skills to them.
